The Art Deco building completed in 1938 brightened the skyline with its 9-foot tall letters spelling out MODEL TOBACCO, visible for miles, until the building closed in 1998. CAH unveiled the first phase of the $65 million adaptive reuse multifamily development project in December 2021, turning the iconic lights back on to signify completion of 203 luxury lofts. Amenities include a cinematic theater, a 24-hour fitness center with a yoga studio and rock climbing wall, and a rooftop terrace offering spectacular views. Model Tobacco Lofts is the flagship for the ongoing revitalization of the Richmond Highway corridor.
